Cold Weather This Week; Weekend Warm-up?

Sunday morning base radar and frontal positions (Simuawips.com console).

The image above is illustrating a quiet Sunday morning for SE Wisconsin. Expect these conditions to continue over the next couple days as high pressure will control the area. A cold front will also be making a visit to the region, bringing in a push of cold air advection.

Cold weather will be the norm until the high pressure system moves out, which is expected to be by Thursday or Friday. The GFS is displaying a shortwave trough for Thursday night which would result in showers possibly mixed with snow. The GFS, however, is the only model giving us this solution, so confidence is low for precipitation.

Models are also currently illustrating warm temperatures for the weekend.

Cold Weather Making a Visit

After an abnormally warm Thanksgiving, cold weather will begin to invade the region starting today. Highs will struggle to reach the mid 30s the next couple days, and lows could dip into the teens. These conditions won't be leaving soon, so be sure to bundle up before going outside.

High winds are anticipated along with the cold weather today, with wind gusts possibly exceeding 30 mph. This combination could drop temperatures into the lower teens all day today. The winds will likely continue into tonight before calming down tomorrow.

We have a slight chance of seeing an isolated flurry today, but no accumulations are expected.

I'm not seeing the potential for any big weather events over the next week or so, except for a slight possibility of snow on Monday-Tuesday. The models had been jumping around all over the place the past couple days, but finally seem to be trending away from the area. We'll still have to keep an eye on that system, but the majority of the models are trending the system away.

As I said before, with the exception of Monday, quiet weather looks to be the norm this week... and cold weather as well.

Thanks for reading!
